The power of goals

At the beginning of 2012 I set goals for myself that I wanted to accomplish in a year. I wrote them down and taped them on the mirror so I could look at it every day.
They were MY goals which I needed to accomplish. They were not related to others so nobody could fail me.
Why this was important to me was because I to believe that I can stand on my own without the dependence on others. Also, I guess that goals give some value in life...

This is what you did to my heart

One of my goals was to explore more with photography and read more books. I always had a thing for reading but I never took the time to do so. And I don't understand why, because every time I finish reading a book I get suck a thrill. Let it sound geeky and cliché but when I'm reading it does feel like I'm in a complete different world where nothing matters. Yes I realize that maybe I haven't read a high literature book, but lets be honest, is the requirement to happiness that you can only have a smart friend?

Another goal of mine was to explore more with photography. As a perfectionist, I used to be scared to use the camera because I was scared to make mistakes, but the truth is that you can only explore and get better by taking the chance and take a million shots, because there's always one good shot in between all the others. I guess that works for everything in life, don't be scared to take chances.
Here are some of my favourite shots I made so far:

If you set goals make sure they are realistic. You can aim high, but only when you are sure you can accomplish the goal or if you don't beat yourself up if you don't accomplish your goal.

Deepest Desires

I would if I could
I would if I admit
scream and shout
and rip your heart out
and shake you and wake you and show you all that you’ve done
all that there is that you’ve turned your back on

My strength is your ease
Your lies are my truth
and the blood you suck seems not enough and the bangs on the wall
of my head make me dizzy and feel so prisoned so small

I would if I could
but my spirit and vigor
won’t be picking up your ashes
Because your prejudice and desires
are hooked with the devil and the villain and the felon
and they leave no space for me to turn your tide.

I would if I admit
but I’ll run instead

Venting

Diets, cooking programs, weightloss, fat, skinny.... What is this obsession with nutrition? This subject is really getting under my skin and every time I hear something about it, my blood starts to boil and all I want to scream is:'Stop it!'

If someone wants to eat, then eat. If someone wants to diet, then diet! Who cares whether that person is damaging his health even more?!
Where's the uproar about people damaging their lungs by smoking packages of cigarettes each day? Or drinking too much alcohol? Isn't that even worse as dieting or eating junk food even when you're fat?
Why does nobody talk when a skinny person eats junk every day? All you will hear is: 'oh I'm jealous of you that you're not getting fat!'
Are we all dumb? Lacking knowledge that skinny or not, eating junk is bad. And yet we only talk about the fat person eating junk.

When people are dieting all they can do is talk about it. 'I've lost that much..'
Who cares? Why is it such an accomplishment?!
Why is it that people who are happy when gaining weight don't make it such a big deal when they gained?
The reactions of one gaining as surely not the same as one who has lost weight.

If society is making such a big deal of weight issues, then stop the cooking programs, close the junk stores, and make it a law to be healthy and put the unhealthy people in jail. But stop obsessing about it, stop talking about it; instead pick a bigger issue to worry about.

Now all I need to do is breathe in.. and out.
